Symposium Introduction

Promoting and facilitating Recovery-oriented service has been one of the most valued aspirations in HK mental health service for years. Tung Wah Groups of Hospitals, Caritas – Hong Kong, Baptist Oi Kwan Social Service has started implementing Strengths Model Case Management (SMCM) in different residential settings since 2012 with trainings and supervisions from Dr. Rick Goscha, Kanas University, as well as support from Hong Kong University. The practice of SMCM has facilitated persons-in-recovery to discover their strengths and design their personal recovery plan with company from workers.
In this Symposium, SMCM experts from the United States and Taiwan are invited to share their experiences. Different organizations from HK that have practiced SMCM will also exchange and share their experiences, challenges, and learnings.
This symposium turns a new page for the implementation of SMCM in HK and bring Mental Health Services into a New Era that emphasis on strength recovery approach in all its service.
