Celebrating 70th Anniversary of Social Work Education in HKU
Dear Alumni and Friends,
The Department is celebrating the 70th Anniversary of Social Work Education in HKU by Year 2020. As a kick-off event, we held a 3-day international conference jointly with the HKSWA in HKU last June. Other celebrating events include: the setting up of a HKU Social Work Alumni Fund, the award of distinguished alumni awards, meeting with CEOs series, publication of an e-booklet, home coming dinner, and a conference at Fudan University (likely in May 2020). More information about these events will be announced shortly.
The Home Coming Dinner cum presentation of Distinguished Alumni Awards has been scheduled for January 17, 2020 (Friday) at Loke Yew Hall, HKU (LYH). Given the size of the LYH, we may only receive some 300 guests. Please therefore pencil mark this date in your diary and watch out for more information about ticketing and booking of tables.
The HKU Social Work Alumni Fund aims to provide financial support for social work students with financial difficulties in fieldwork placements and research study related activities. We sincerely appeal for your generous donations to benefit our students with financial difficulties. Incidentally, donations to the Fund may benefit from the following:
1. By donations of $500 or more, you can be counted for the iGift campaign and will receive a signature scarf donated by Professor Rosie Young, Chairperson of HKU Foundation.
2. Donations now will get 50% matched by Government (but this is first-come-first-served. Competition amongst institutions is very keen)
3. For donations of 20K and above, you will be invited to be HKU Foundation Member. Membership is for life.
Your generous donation to the Fund is most appreciated. The Development & Alumni Affairs Office has kindly created this hyperlink for donations to the Fund, i.e. https://eform.giving.hku.hk/zend/online_donation/igift_social_work_alumni_fund.
For more information about the Alumni Fund or other celebrating events, please contact Mr. Stephen Cheung by phone at 39172288 or by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
