Candidates are required to complete six compulsory courses, two elective courses and dissertation or two additional elective courses.
They can choose to specialize in three areas in social work (i.e. Integrative Practice, Counselling for Children and Youth and School Social Work). In order to fulfill the requirement of the specialization, they are compulsory to take TWO electives offered by MSocSc(SWY) programme in the Department of Social Work and Social Administration. Details are as follows:

The Department will issue a certifying letter to the students who fulfil the requirement of specializations. Yet, the specialization will not be shown in the transcript.
(1)Candidates can take elective courses from both the core and elective courses in other fields of study under the Master of Social Sciences (Behavioral Health, Counselling, Gerontology, Mental Health, Nonprofit Management, Social Service Management) programmes. Approval from the respective Programme Directors is needed.
(2) Not all elective courses will necessarily be offered in a given year.
