Founded in 2002, the Centre on Behavioral Health was set up under the Faculty of Social Sciences of The University of Hong Kong. The Centre cares about the society and aims at promoting holistic health in the community. Over the years, it maintains its visions to: integrate Western and Eastern philosophies and healing modalities to open up new knowledge in holistic health; adopt an unbiased and scientific approach to research on holistic health; provide professional trainings as well as education; and offer services to enhance individual and community wellbeing.
The Centre has built a multi-disciplinary team with different professional backgrounds. They include counselors, clinical psychologists, social workers, creative and expressive arts therapists, nurses, and full-time researchers.
Established in 2002, The Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention is a multi-disciplinary and unique university-based research center in Southeast Asia. The centre has committed to generating, disseminating, and applying knowledge and skills in suicide prevention through research, training and resource production.
The Centre aims at developing effective preventive measures of suicide as well as building evidence-based indigenous working models through practitioner-researcher collaboration. It is the ultimate goal of the Centre to contribute to the formulation of social and health policies in dealing with the problem of suicide in a public health approach.
The Centre on Ageing was officially launched in April 1999 at the University of Hong Kong. In 2002, the Centre was the beneficiary of an endowment from Mr. Kwok Sau-po and was then renamed the Sau Po Centre on Ageing. The Centre is committed to excellence and innovation, and focuses on enhancing the quality of life of older persons through gerontology research, education, and policy advocacy. Members and research fellows come from different parts of the world and have been trained in more than 14 diverse disciplines.
